This year's Autumn Ball will again be held at the South Pasadena Woman's Club, 1424 Fremont Ave. at Rollin St., south of the Fair Oaks exit from State Freeway 110. We may park cars on the street or at nearby South Pasadena High School.

We shall have a beginners' dance lesson at 10 a.m., then an intermediates' lesson at 2, by our Choreographer John Hertz; between those, box lunches (a separate subscription); at half past 4, a full tea; then at half past 7, dancing till midnight. It is a well-provided day, and has long been a pleasant and applauded affair. Period costume of about the year 1800 is welcome but not required.

Lunches (by separate subscription) will be from Celestino restaurant, 141 S. Lake Ave., Pasadena. You may have Bresaola dry-cured beef with Grapefruit, a Salad of Baby Lettuce with Roasted Peppers, Eggplant, & Goat Cheese, and Chocolate Cake; or Prosciutto di Parma ham with Melon, a Salad of Endive, Radicchio, Walnuts, & Apples, and a Lemon Tart; or Risotto with Porcini mushrooms and Mascarpone cheese, a Salad of Mixed Greens, and Ricotta Cake.

Our tea-time guest will be Mary L. Robertson, Curator of British Historical Manuscripts at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens. Next year being the 200th anniversary of establishing the Regency, the Huntington will hold a grand exhibit, scheduled to open on April 23rd (St. George's Day!). She writes, "The creation of my exhibition here is occupying a great deal of my mind these days." Dr. Robertson will tell us all about it, with PowerPoint since original objects cannot leave the Huntington.

Subscriptions $30 until November 29th, then $35; lunches extra, $20.

Please make all payment (saying which lunch you wish) to Susan Haseltine, at 3294 S. Malcolm Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90034; inquiries to John Hertz, 236 S. Coronado St., No. 409, Los Angeles, CA 90057, (213)384-6622.
